The wolf hit the floor with a sickening thud, followed soon after by the massive boot of the tyrant king, a spider web of cracks forming across the floor as the blue lantern's shield shattered like so much glass. The burly ox hmphed his disapproval, grinding his foot down a bit further before hefting his ornate energy axe from the floor and walking towards one of the many monitors that lined the halls of his throne room. To think that such a meager opponent had dared to challenge him...But what did he expect from these "lantern corps"?
He glanced backwards, robe billowing, examining the battered, still form on the floor behind him. Pathetic.
Turning back to the monitors he watched the other lantern left, the green one, battling his hordes of soldiers. This one might have proved a better challenge, he was taking on all comers and still roaring his defiance. Though as the king watched he took a glancing blow from one of his shock troopers, and then another, soon stumbling under the growing tide of his well-trained army. He would soon fall as well, and then he would be free to have his hordes sweep over this sector of the galaxy, and then the next, an irresistable tide that only grew with each world he conquered. The impending conquest sent shivers down his spine.
"Delicious." He threw his head back and laughed heartily, throwing his arms wide. "The fools! Its obvious the green lantern was the more powerful of the two...Why they split up like that is beyond me."
"You're right, it is." The king frowned and turned slightly, observing the tottering form balancing on one leg. His left arm hung limply, broken most likely, the other shaking at his side in a fist.
"Impressive wolf, I'd thought you dead." Forest gave a little smirk, looking up over the rim of his broken glasses to glare at the mad ox. The king bristled, the look of defiance still strong after all of this.
"The reason why we split up is because he..." Forest motioned towards the green form being pummeled on the screen, "...is an insufferable hot head. If he came it would have been likely he'd have lost his temper and done something to get himself killed. So I went instead."
The king hmrphed again, turning to face the wolf fully now, hefting his massive axe in one end, the edges starting to glow red as he activated it. The wolf paid him no heed, continuing still.
"You may not realize it, but the Blue Lanterns stand for Hope. The hope of people across the galaxy that would resist your imperialist conquest, the hope of the other lanterns busy with your forces elsewhere. The hope of my friend there as well." The king frowned as the wolf stood up straighter, rolling his neck a bit and smirking wider.
"But more than that, he has faith in me. He trusted that I could handle this, that I could handle you." The ox snorted and grimaced, the wolf holding up a glowing paw, a nearly blinding blue light shining forth from his power ring, despite having been nearly dull before. He squinted, the light shining brighter, no longer merely blue. The world around him seemed to dim, only that pulsing, almost white light radiating from the smaller wolf standing out vividly. "And that Faith is why you'll lose."
Forest grinned. The light was too bright to look at now.
"If you survive, I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell LJ. I'd rather not show him what I've found quite yet."
The mad king could only wonder what he meant by that as the all-encompassing light enveloped them both.
Yeah, I'm still up. I can't sleep, so I kept drawing. I've had this scenario in my head for quite a while, and I figure I'd draw a scene from it since its unlikely to happen any other way. If you remember the lantern pictures I've done a while back, you'll note that there's a comment on Forest's picture about how he was testing the limits of his ring, as well as the very nature of the Blue Light of Hope. This sort of stems from that.
Of course its not near canon for any of the lantern stuff, but its fun to play around with ideas that pop into my head.

THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there more to this story elsewhere? Cause I'm loving this character. I always wondered what each of the colors stood for with the lanterns. I guessed Red was Rage and aggression and green was supposed to represent justice, order, and creativity. But I was never sure on that.
