"Since the very first time I had seen a fursuit or mascot in my life, I felt revitalized and happy: these creatures were from all my favorite shows or snippets of my imagination, frolicking about! I was an atypical child with some typical growing up pains but I always had a knack for those characters who were strong heroes who also had emotional and caring center. Through that type of role modeling, my fursona was born as early as 1994 (the fourth grade for me!), and started out as a treasure hunter. Through the years and experiences later, she developed into something more and grew up with me along the way. My fursona, Jetillian, had always been a positive character in my life; I had become interested in the fandom around 2000 through the powers of Internet, and saw a certain timberwolf and his art as well as his fursuiting experiences.
It intrigued me, and I realized that Jet could become a reality.
Clean fursuiting to me means taking care of the art that you have been bestowed with, not abusing it (in multiple ways), and to assume the character whenever visible to peering eyes. We make people of any age smile and feel better in their day--no matter how much they are laughing with or against us. We bring a physical and outward embodiment (also stereotypical with non-furs), and we are here to show that we are here to bring smiles, not suspicions.
As for this specific picture: this was one of many child and adult pairings we encountered at the Keene Bowling Meet in New Hampshire. When I had arrived early on scene, an entire family came out and one child was so flabbergasted, he planked on the ground for a solid minute! This walking fox walking about the bowling alley surrounded and talking to other humans: how unreal and exciting is that for someone with bounds of imagination and possibility?
Don't sully the moment: be a major part of their day. Be clean, keep the illusion, and most of all... have a good time while doing it."
