yeah ok mantises look like they fit into tombdog world well enough
they probably actually wear clothes. this one is a nudist (I haven't designed any clothing yet :c)
probably made mantis too big in relation to tombdog. or tombdog too small. too narrow.
look mantises look like they fit that's all that's important. moving on.

The tombdog is a bit too small considering it's closer to the viewer and the mantis is basically slightly bigger?
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7591716/ I was thinking something like this for comparative sizes! Only I drew that before I decided on straight-up mantis torsos! I don't know!
I have literally no idea what I'm doing, ever!

Well they have that SEX THING in the very back end.
I think, even with the carapace, they might want to protect their bodies against SOME elements, too. You don't want to run into some thorns and have your chitin all torn up and scratched until your next molt! And in different cultures--especially tombdog culture which has serious nudity hang-ups--they'd probably put on clothing to not, like, be entirely inappropriate and completely unwelcome.
Like mantisona tho I think most of their ~outfits~ would just be decorating their chitin with paint. In tombdog land they'd all wear those tombdog shoulder-capes, because tombdogs basically consider you under-dressed if you don't have some kind of cape over your shoulders. Humans, I don't know. Maybe in humanland femalemantises wear giant dresses over their body. That sounds adorable, admit it.

Oh! Oh okay see I don't have very many good references for these things I never know how bugvag and bugdicks work too well ok
ok well that is good
I am ruling that their tarsus things are semi-prehensile in that they can hold things between them and their ultimate raptorial thorn-claw thing. It lets them, like, at least interact with their environment a bit more than nothing. You have to make up stuff like this for them to be a viable civilized species, ok. So they can at least put on and wear SOME kinds of clothing
they probably wouldn't want to cover their wing cases
unless maybe like covering it up is a thing of peace, so they can't pop out their wings and be all threatening. it is a thing you do when you are at ease??? you wear a cape over your wing case
