Here is the finished artwork for my submission for the Midwest Fur Fest 2007 convention book.
I didn't get a reply as to whether I could or couldn't post this online, so I'll remove it if they have any issues with it.
Thank you everyone who commented on the concept work.
Unfortunately I started this with a .5 Micron and just had to go with it for the rest of the picture. Oh, well. After scanning it and correcting it in Adobe Photoshop, I filled the flag in, and then changed the values of the gray so that the figure is black, and gets lighter into the back. I hope it shows up well when it gets printed in the book as halftone with whatever LPI the printer goes with. *crosses fingers*
It's no character in particular. Just some grizzled old pirate tier.. lanky, broken and with some issues (I think he's worried you want his treasure.. arrr!) And, yeah.. his tail is supposed to have a little kink there at the end. ^.^
Please comment! I love +Faves and +Watches... but please give me constructive criticism!

Wow! Nice work on the details! I really love the Jolly Rogers flag you have!
Just wow! So much detail in this one portrait (or pinup)! I love the patch on the eye and the classic pegleg! *chuckles* Wonderful work! Might you be coloring this in the future? Just out of curiousity. Thanks!
Great job! Keep up the good work!

Thank you greatly for the comments. I work sort of in my own little island here without much imput from anyone else, so it's great when I get words of wisdom from other folks online.
^.^ I think it's the first image I've ever done that might really be thought of as a "pin-up". Well, maybe Zyder... Yeah, it's pretty stereotypical, but I found it fun to do anyways. I hope people enjoy it. I feel pretty proud, even though... I'd love to have made some changes early on. But once ink is laid on paper.. that's pretty much it.
As for coloring... I'm no good at coloring. I'm really picky about who I let color my stuff (as you can see by the lack of coloring in my portfolio here.) But if I found someone with the style and skills I liked, and they were willing, sure.. I'd love to have it colored.

I'm happy that the character comes through the illustration. Let's hope it gets the thumbs-up from the MFF folks! :D
I like doing line art. Color is not really my strong point (or much of a point at all for me ^.^.)
I hope folks like how I dealt with the values of the lineart in the background.
I'll hopefully be doing more stuff, though this is a rarity for me to do a pin-up style image... so we'll see how that works out over time.
Thank you again for your comments!

How do you get such clean inking? It's something I still haven't figured out.
I honestly can't find anything wrong with this. Good ink job, Plenty of detail to keep people interested, I mean I know I promised I'd provide feedback in exchange for your feedback, but considering I lack the knowhow to actually find something that could be fixed, you seem to be getting the short end of the stick with our deal.

clean inking... use paper without much tooth to it (the smoother the better). Most of what you see here is on 24# or 28# bright-white (96 to 104 brightness) photocopy paper.
I usually go over my lines with a 01 (or 03 micron on larger, or less detailed pics) and then go over the contour lines with a thicker 05 (or 08 on larger/less detailed pics.) Long, even strokes with firm pressure that won't bend the tip. :D
I also utilze Photoshop for small clean-up. My finished real pieces are often marred and marked with pencil lines and eraser marks that don't go away.
Other than that? Hmm.. dunno. Folks compliment my linework often, but I have a long way to go before I feel like I've mastered any sort of black/white. I haven't gotten shadows and hatching and other line-making styles down. Maybe in time though.
