Yay! Anther work I've been planning for ages done!
This is by
and isn't it great!
This is merely my idea, it's his excellent execution that really makes it work.
I love his colouring style; that tinge of "grittyness" (I really need to learn to express myself better) he uses is fantastic.
I'll certainly commission him again, but I've got a number of other people I want to commission as well so we'll see what happens.
This work is inspired by the fantastic opening tracks of Gorillaz' "Plastic Beach".
They remind me of fond memories I have of time spent at the beach and I wanted to honour those memories in an artwork.
I find being down at the beach is incledibly relaxing and paceful, and I think Damon Albarn gets that feeling just right in his lyrics:
I'm also using this as an opportunity to show off Theta's back stripes, as I haven't had a good reference for them yet.
I've tweaked the design slightly and Hahul has done a fantastic job with them.
I also think having him facing away from the viewer also helps integrate him into the scene; more than if he was facing us and missing out on the fantastic view.
Finally for those interested, that jetty is based off the one in Brighton, Adelaide, South Australia.
Naturally that's the beach where I got those wonderful memories so I had to reference it in the work.
I hope this has allowed you a moment of peace and relaxation today.
If it has, then I think I can truly count this work as a success.

Look, if heaven had a VIP
This is it, white sand, blue sea
But I don't know who they are
And I'm damn sure they don't know me
But I come in peace
Cool! White flag, white flag
No war, no guns
No corps, just life
Just love, no hate
Just fun, no ties
Just me and my mind
...
It's great and we ain't leaving
We come on in peace, sing
White flag, white flag
