I had a strange dream. In this dream I woke up feeling different. My hands refused to lift properly, my legs unable to left me upright. As the morning fog cleared from my eyes I awoke to find my neck craned above the ground many feet. I could only gasp, finding my voice to be a low bass, vibrating in an echo that caused my to jump, feeling sensitive fins on either side of my head twitch and wince at the noise. I quickly spun my long neck to find my body elongated and slender, my eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and fear as I realized what had happened. I was a dragon.
I stretched out my wings, rolling on my back to feel my new form. The scales were smooth, body thick and strong with lean muscle. I couldn't stay confined in this dark cavern. I yearned to feel the sun glisten off my scales. I trotted, awkwardly at first, toward the mouth of this vast cavern. The first rays were energizing, as if charging my body, giving me strength to go forward. Though my moment of bliss was broken as I found myself stumbling off of the narrow cliff edge, my hind claws digging into the ground to catch myself, but it was much too late.
I plummeted quickly, my frame rather large, bigger than any horse. With my life on the line, instinct took over and I spread my wings, catching huge gusts of air and diminishing my fall to a mere glide. The wind broke around my snout and body, perfectly shaped for speed and flying, which I quickly took to the test once I got accustomed.
After hours on end of simply flying I felt pangs of hunger deep inside of me, begging for food. What I hadn't realized was that I should have spent more of this time hunting rather than playing. Quickly, I sniffed the air, my nose not proving as strong, so my broad tongue flicked out to taste, getting a plethora of new sensations and direction. Most prominent toward a small lake not far from me. I quickly headed that direction, letting out a loud roar to let the world know I existed.
My tongue had not failed me, as a heard of nicely fatted deer lazed in the rays of the setting sun, all tired from a day of gorging on bountiful vegetation. Nothing could be done as I swooped in, thumping to the ground and unleashing the beast within me. Single gulps were all it took for those plump creatures to be sliding down my gullet, the ones more prime to escape went first, the rest too sickly or slow to get far. My belly groaned softly in happiness as it stretched and distended with the still kicking meal filling it, making me moan softly as I couldn't help but belch. Before I knew it, it was over, every deer I had seen packed tightly into my belly...or so I thought.
I caught glance of a simply divine creature, bloated with fat. Its frame was rolling with luscious meat and I salivated at the sight. The obese deer looked at me with big eyes, having eaten itself to immobility; it deserved this fate. With my bloated belly sloshing heavily between my legs, I waddled over and clamped my maw over its snout, not worried about how full I was, nor the risk of popping from overindulgence. I gulped, gulped and gulped away, taking that fat thing in. My jaw having to unhinge with a pop as I swallowed around its belly. With great strength I lifted it up, its fat rear toward the sky, wobbling as I gulped loudly, sending it sliding down and forcing it to curl up with its family, all packed tightly so they couldn't move. After the engorged glutton was down in my belly, which moaned at being so overstuffed, I rolled over onto my back and whined, belching thunderously, enjoying my own gluttony as I found my tail had to curl to had just how much I enjoyed the meal. Though, after having a bit of fun, I passed out from a wonderful food coma.
Though, evidently my binge did not go unnoticed. I awoke to find many villagers around me, rubbing and kneading a thick layer of pudge that had accumulated on my body. I snapped awake and growled, feeling violated and ashamed at the same time. They backed away, though my intimidation factor was diminished as a booming burp rushed out of my jaws, making all of the villagers chuckle. As I tried to roll to my feet and get away, one stopped me. He spoke in a soft and tender voice, eyes weathered with age, but glowing with wisdom. "Young dragon, you need not worry," he spoke with a rasp, " we have awaited your arrival. It is foretold in legend that you would arrive to protect us. Nothing will scare off foes more than the largest dragon in the land."
I tiled my head in curiosity at the evident leader's statement, another burp betraying me as I try to be serious.
"Please, allow us to adorn you with blessings in exchange for your grace and protection. Will you accept this? We have accommodations to provide you with great comfort in the sanctuary of your own cave."
Needless to say, my hungry eyes saw ways to take advantage of these people and I agreed to this. There was much cheering from the others and they all seemed to rush off to town again, leaving me alone with the the old man. He informed me to simply return home and at sun down all of the blessing would begin.
I quickly returned home, though not avoiding a few goats to snack on along the way. Once home, I snaked toward the back of my cave, a huge cavern, and nestled in my nest, awaiting the townspeople.
Just as the sun burned all the environment orange, setting down on the horizon, I heard many feet stomping, bells ringing, and instruments playing. A long line of people came carrying platters of various live stock, all cooked and fattened to draconic portions. I grinned deviously at it all, feeling like a god to these people. I began my feast with no hesitation, tearing into platter after platter, all spilling into my ever expanding and swelling gut. The night went on, the villagers celebrated, and I glutted far more than I knew possible. My stomach churned and whined with how much was packed away, I couldn't take much more, but I forced more, swallowing every morsel offered to me. By the end of it all, my distended gut lifted my hind legs in the air, leaving me looking ill to the face, panting in small breaths as to avoid bursting. The people's hands were now empty, thankfully, and they went to massaging my sides, their hands not sinking at all as my hide was tight as a drum. I quickly passed out.
I awoke to the same, though in a more morning like scene, breakfast items, including some fat pastries delighted my vision as I didn't hesitate eating again. These people had food more than they knew what to do with, other than stuff a dragon silly, which they did daily. The days rolled into weeks and I found my body growing and growing, the cavern not so massive anymore. Soon my neck billowed over itself, rolls caressing my chin and cheeks, my belly splaying to the sides many, many feet, my legs all stuck in thick blubber. My rump and tail taking a massive amount of the fattening, all engorged to nearly dwarf my head. I was a happy beast, fattened beyond movement, but my feasts continued as my growth continued, the villagers always happy to offer up larger portions for their protector.
Now I lay in my mass, unable to look past my first neck rolls, the cavern having long since burst around my frame. The entire mountain the housed it lost to my bulk, and I couldn't be more content. Rather often thunder was heard under clear skies as my belching echoed for miles, scaring any intruders off. Protecting this people was never an issue, but if it were, I could squash any foe easily with just a small shuffle to the side.
