This is a collage of images of my current work in progress sculpt for a kigurumi-style cosplay. It is against the ever classy photo setup of a scrap towel draped on an office chair.
I have been spending WAY too long on this sucker, and I think I am definitely at the stage to get some outside input on it. PLEASE give me any constructive criticism, even if you think I should just scrap the whole kigurumi thing. I have honestly been flip-flopping between doing a kigurumi-style or a general fursuiting resin blank with hinged jaw, padding, etc. Please even tell me if you think it's freaky looking, but try to explain to me WHY it's freaky looking.
Most notably, I have been struggling hardcore with the eyes. I don't want to make them "come hither" eyes (kinda like Bridget) but if it's the only thing that will make her not look like barney the goddamned dinosaur, than so be it.
What is missing is some dragon ears (should I do upward frilly or downward weird cow ears?) and two small horns. I plan on making my own wig with hecka wefting and perhaps some ventilating on netting if I'm feeling adventurous.
Again, please please give me some critique. I have re-worked every element of this mask so many times, I am far from opposed to ripping an entire part off and re-making it.
Edit: whoops, I forgot to list my inspiration.

^^This is the first time I had ever seen kigurumi style done well, and I've always admired this character.

^^I just love the mouth on this thing. I wish I knew the source!

I say this looks really fantastic!
If it were me I'd make it into a resin mask and hinge the jaw, since when I think of those types of kigurumis I think of incredibly smooth and shiny almost awkwardly scary masks. Don't get me wrong some are awesome! And they don't have that much difference between a static jaw fur head. But with a few and the position of their mouths I guess it's odd sometimes.
Anyway I think since this is so unique looking it could go either way! And I say add downward frilly ears like a combo, cause it would be adorable! But then again you /may/ risk someone thinking its a Tauren or something. You could always give him/her some more expressive eyebrows? And or eye lids?

Don't worry, dude, I've looked at enough terrible kigirumi examples to know how they can get pretty freaky. *shudder* Talk about uncanny valley! I'm hoping to incorporate techniques from both the kigu and fursuiting community, and paint it matte.
Hurm... see I was planning on the body of the costume being a zentai (with clothes on), and I would want the surface to be consistent between the body and face. I haven't found an example of anyone covering a head in spandex yet, and there's probably a good reason for it. I guess there's always fleece, but gosh, that stuff gets HOT!
Ah man I didn't even think about downward frilly ears. Upward frilly ears just scream "vaporeon" at me sometimes.
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment, and for the favorite ;D

It went through a ton of revisions since I posted this, but I ended up finishing it! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12597408/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12511897/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12596878/ It had some fitment and symmetry issues, but it turned out a-ok. She's getting a new 'do and some brigher eyes before the next FC.
