I think I know this one: you never actually know why the front door needs fixed. You just know the doorknob doesn't fit through that metal reinforcing plate quite right, and you try not to ask why the doorknob needed reinforcing to begin with - mostly because you don't want to know what was happening when the door got kicked in. It's not the sort of thing that makes one feel any better about living in that apartment.
