Hasaj is an ex-secret agent, now a sworn member of the Minsk Hunt after practically conning them into adopting herself and her slightly autistic younger brother - who Choativ Hunt had been using as hostage/leverage to keep her loyalty. Hasaj and her brother are the first of their race to leave their solar system. Under any other circumstance, this would be a milestone, a historical triumph for a given species, but in their case, it was under the veil of secrecy while Choativ scoured the Itinic for their renegade agent and her brother.

As the Minsk have come to trade with, and manipulate, the Espic, so they too become changed by their new insectile associates, adopting the parlance, and finally the conventions of an Espic hunt, such that the Minsk now swear an oath of fealty to their own extended 'family/nation' that is the concept of Hunt among these folk. The Espic hunt members, being entirely species blind once the oath is taken, expect no less of their Minsk counterparts.

It gives the Minsk advantages over humans when trading with Itinic, but it may have far reaching consequences regarding the early development of Minsk culture and identity.
