According to the people that worked on it, they decided just to ignore Space Jam entirely and write her character based entirely on the voice actress. I'm fine with that personally, since Lola in her original form didn't have much comic potential except maybe as a Minerva Mink/Red Hit Riding Hood type character. Though they could have probably factored in both and made like, a histrionic Lola.
But why did they find it a good idea to make her a creepy-ass stalker with the IQ of a rock who Bugs hates? That's what makes it seem like they're catering to the anti-Lola bunch--they took a 90's girl power icon and Bugs' girlfriend and turned her into a feminist's nightmare who Bugs wants to stay away from. But like I said before, they ruined pretty much everyone else too {might I add as a side-note, I especially hate what they've done with Pepe}, so I guess it makes sense that they'd come up with something like this for her.
But her main issue was that she was pretty much entirely defined as a 'girl power' icon, and ultimately a stock stereotype as a result. By making her a sort of abhorrent admirer you put her on the same dysfunctional and equal level as everyone else opposed to a character put on a pedestal for her gender, which is more in-line with feminist sensibilities.
Overall the show is a little too domestic and sitcomy for my tastes, but I still think it's quite nice. It looks good, too, which is nice. I feel like 2D animation is on the cusp of a second renaissance.
