A commission for Sonia Lai, who likes to commission artists to draw their own characters in a setting of her choice. In this particular case, she requested Kanthara with Arthur and DW from the PBS cartoon Arthur.
It amused me how much of the characters I still remembered despite the years since I worked on that show, but the broken-line clean up style I was a little rusty on. Still, I'm pretty happy with how on-model the two aardvarks are here. I'm glad I still had some model sheets on backup!
Also I gave Kanthara a sort of rodent nose and mouth to fit with the whole Arthur style. I kinda like it.

I chose to use daytime colours instead of night time because I wanted to keep things in their regular, recognisable colours, and because it makes little sense to have kids up at the same time as the gargoyles, so yes, I'm breaking the rules a little for the Arthur universe. If I'd drawn Arthur and DW in the Gargoyles style, then that would have been different (and likely the kids would have been human). :)
Thanks!
Thanks!
Correction, season 15. Derp. This is the episode I worked on then. http://youtu.be/fRXnQYT-8XY
I've always loved Arthur. I remember the original Arthur books like Arthur's nose from way back in Junior Kindergarten. These days I watch the show once in awhile, and I like it. It's a nice little comfort show. :)
In addition, I LOVE your adaptation to this style! This looks amazing!
