not a complete delay just a bit of a slowdown
my sister's friend works at a vet and a birdcage full of kittens was dumped at the backdoor.
they are 3-4 weeks old
A silver Siamese female, 2 gray kinda Siamese males, a brown tabby male.
and they really needed a foster home
and I have fostered many litters with moms and bottle raised many kittens, I have experience, and in this house with me being nocturnal there is only a 2-4 hour period where no one in this house is awake, so they can be fed regularly.
soooooo I took them
they are tiny for their age, and they desperately needed a bath, one has the runs, one is rather boney and won't eat on its own it needs to be syringe fed and even then I can hardly get him to eat (he is strong and active though) he also shivers/shakes a lot so I have my heat lamp (normally used to hasten the drying of paper clay and paint) on them... and none of them know what a litter box is >_<
Honestly... I fear the 2 looking at the camera may be the only ones to survive, I am really worried for the other 2... according to the vet they are not sick but rather just malnourished and weak.
These kids needed a foster mom bad, they need help, the only one who seems perfectly healthy and in the clear is the one brown one, he is strong and active and soo soooo soooooo affectionate... I may have to keep him, my gosh even my cat Cuddles (whom we kept from a fostered litter) as a baby was not this crazy for human attention <3
anyway, I need to work on commission but I find myself seeming to almost be constantly cleaning them and feeding them (such messy kittens, never have I had such messy kittens) and the brown one cries for attention and he needs it otherwise he beats up the other 3.
work will be slowed a little but it is for a good cause <3

I am not letting myself get attached to the 2 weak ones (which is hard, the runt has a cute round face) because I know I may loose them, the one is just really sleepy and not interested in food and I think his tummy hurts :(
the brown one though, he is fine, raskly hyper little bugger, and I wish the other 3 were as active as him. I suspect he is not related, I have fostered a mom who gave birth to 4 gray siamese and 4 tabbies before, but he strikes me as a being a bit older than the other 3 for he is bigger, more active, seems to have more teeth, so he may not be from the same litter

Heh, that's so much easier said than done<:) Yeah, it's possible mom could've adopted him from another mama, but you how cats can get around! I swear one of the females that went through my humane society last year had three suitors (all of the kittens ended up being completely different from each other is size, color, and build). The tabby boy is so adorable; I want to kiss his forehead
Oh my they are just adorable.
I just found a stray momma cat that was due and a few days later..
Now we have kittens >.<
But I'm used to strays and taking care of them also
Your a wonderful person for helping the little ones out the way you so.
It's nice to meet people like you ^.^

I don't know how anybody could ever say no to those little face... I never end up having the babies come to me, I end up with the old ones... I just had a 8 year old bunny come to me matted so bad he had to be shaved and had fly strike... He pulled though, and he's so happy now :)
The ones that have stripes but still look like Siamese are called Lynx Siamese. Sometimes they'll even hair little tufts on their ears. Siamese phenotype in cats is a naturally occurring recessive mutation that is derived from the gene that causes black cats. I've seen many alley cats give birth to Siamese.
yeah I had a gray tabby I fostered give birth to 8 kittens- 3 lynx siamese, one silver point siamese, a dark brown tabby, a gray tabby, a tan tabby, and a tan with white tabby.
Then Curly came to me with a gray tabby mom, a gray tabby brother, a fellow gray siamese brother with white markings, and a silver point siamese brother.

I wish I can take them for you but soon I'll be getting a new job and I'll be away for 6 hours for 2 or 3 days. plus I have little money to be able to get stuff for them. I don't think my dad would like the idea ether even though we have cats.
But I too have helped with kitties. My ex boyfriend's sister's cat had kitties and I took care of them when I was over. Sadly one died due to he was too weak to get to the nipple. I tried CPR on him but the kitty formula I got for it came to late. I had to bury it myself and then cried on my ex's shoulders when he got home from work. But the other kitties got homes are are big.
My heart goes out the little ones.

I am loosing hope on the one, if he is not better by tomorrow we will have a tough choice to make. The other weaker one is now quite a bit better though, it went from not being interested in food to the point of climbing the bars and screaming hungry... but the other, he just sleeps and refuses food...
Oh, goodness, that's so hard. >_<;; I'll keep hoping that he, too, comes around like the other one did, but if not ... I know it's difficult to do, but just take comfort in the fact that if not for you, he would have been alone, cold, and unloved when he passed. In his final moments, at least, he was loved by -someone-. Trust me, it's a small comfort, but one I've always clung to when something like this happens.
Sometimes it's all the solace we ever get out of a sad thing like this. And it helps prevent the pain from discouraging me from trying with others in the future. It's all too easy to just say, "It's too painful when they die, I just can't handle it." But when you sit down and realize that your attempt to save them, even if unsuccessful, was the first and only kindness they ever knew in their short lives ... it makes it all worth it. To be THAT kind soul that they'll remember up over the Rainbow Bridge.

I once fostered 2 prego moms from a guy who got evicted, through them ended up with 12 kittens, the litters born within a day of each other.
in the end 10 made it to adoption.
One from each litter lost to a virus, they went from their crying sounding a little funny to gone within hours. I did not cry when the first died cause he was the runt of a litter of 8 and I was prepared to loose him, the second was a shock for she was the biggest of the other litter, when I found out what they had (FCV) I was told the whole litter must be infected and I would loose them all, I bawled my eyes out. But upon some further research I learned that while the virus could not be treated, what really did them in was the secondary pneumonia, so to not loose anyone else I treated them 3 times a day with antibiotics for 2 weeks, and I did not loose another kitten.

I had a stray who had something, my mother thinks FeLV, I think FIV, who's kittens, often scrawny, would never make it past two weeks nomatter what we did. The cat never gave up on them. As soon as the litter died, she was pregnant again. I buried them near where she had her first litter. I often saw her looking towards there, or sitting among the little graves. I might not have had her long, but the moments we shared were magical.
:( I cried.
It is so sad that people have the necessity come about they need to dump animals, for whatever reason... It's sad, but a lot of them don't even try to look for someone who will willingly foster them first. :/
I wish you a lot of luck with the little two weak ones... do let us know how if they make it.., would you be able to keep the little tabby boy? :D Or just want to? :P
Also, I'm sure the people waiting on commissions will not mind short delays one bit

AWWWWW! They are so cute and I thank you for taking them in! I hope they all make it! The Siamese looking one reminds me of the smartest and best cat I ever had, Elric. He was half Lilac point Siamese and half tiger tabby. He was a VERY handsome cat when he grew up. He lived to be almost 20 and I miss him still (he passed over 11 years ago).
If we did not already have 6 cats, I would be trying to figure out how to get one of these!
Good luck and thank you again!

Aww they are so cute. Dropped off at such an early age without their mother is hard and I'm glad you are raising them. I haven't fostered many myself but I've adopted pets (horse and a kitten) who were in really bad situations and now they are sweet and beautiful. Hope they'll live on to be strong, affectionate kittens and please post more progress/pictures of them. I'd love to know how they are doing. Praying for them. I'd love to adopt another, but I already have three cats at mom's and two cats at dad's to take care of.
Good luck! :3
Good luck! :3
Why are people so bloody cruel to their animals? It breaks my heart to hear how careless they were abandoned in a bird cage. Though then there is you and others of the kind heart'd sort that take the abandoned and unwanted animals, to care and tend to their needs. You truly have a heart of gold, and my hope goes to all the kittens. May they survive the heavy ordeal their beginning has given them.
My mom and sister and I raised a stray litter last fall. We kept one out of 4. That little Siamese just pulls at my heart. I wish I could take him/her on, but youre probably too far away and traveling even in a car for any length of time would probably be a bit too taxing on one so young and fragile. Good luck with them! Youre doing something wonderful taking care of them and you'll get lots of kitty cuddles in return :)
So frakking adorable. I used to work for a vet for four years and I was taking care of several litters myself, both this age and younger even...So sad when one passes on in sleep, but so rewarding to see them grow up into full adult cats. Are they looking for homes by chance and where?
Oh goodness I hope those two little ones make it... You must be so strong I'd never be able to do this. Many years ago my father found a kitten, only a few days old in a parking lot mid December. The cat was put in his work truck, and throughout the day and the long drive, she was accidentally forgotten. 3 days later my mother asked if anyone took the cat, my dad rushed to work, only to find the tiny, sick, baby kitty half dead and frozen stiff (literally). She was rushed to the vet and was so young that she couldn't get a flea bath, and was given a very quick flea dip. They thought she wasn't going to make it. The ticks and fleas had infected her and sucked her dry, not to mention how frozen she was. And you know what? She lived to be 21. She was old and deaf, and a stroke finally stopped the old beast. Sadly she had to be put down, but being able to make it, and live so long, shocked everyone. Never give up on those baby kitties <3
