Her name is Kosmas and she's an alien of the species Runa. I doubt anyone will have read the book, until the damn movie is made then everyone will be experts, but this breed is based off of the docile species in The Sparrow. I believe that the name is Runa there as well, but I can't find any information on it over the net and don't have the book on hand. So it's Runa now!
The traits I took from the Runa are the double irised eye, ears, and tail. Runa are usually in more earth tones and a smaller tail; they also have more fingers instead of less. So it's my spin on things.
Kosmas here is albino and mate-less by Runa standards. That is what the anklet is for, I didn't draw the lights on; might add them later now that I have an idea as to what they should look like. But the lights turn on when a Runa is near another of the same species and opposite sex that is a good match for them. This is all part of one large breeding program arranged by the galaxy; this fact is still hidden from the general public.
The Runa are herbivores and easily relateable to monkeys. Their feet work just as well as their hands and their tails are prehensile; which I am unsure if I spelled correctly or not. They cannot hang from their tails, but it is helpful for balance. The males have more hair from their ears and tail which is often multicolored. No matter what gender the fur is extremely valuable which has started up a small group of Runa poachers catering to those interested in the exotic. The Runa government also makes a great deal of money off of the sale of Runa fur as once a Runa enlists or more likely is drafted into the war their fur is cut short to the military standard.
The Runa are mostly peaceful, it is their numbers that keep them in the war. There are just too many of them, like China XD (Blame Kathy Griffin for that one)
This picture of Kosmas is before she was drafted into the war so I'll put up that picture of her soon as well, a lot of changes.
Oh yes...Took me at least over 5 hours for this method of coloring, sadly I find that I rather like it, damn.
If you like the species and idea behind them and want to create one just let me know, I would love to see other Runa ^-^ just remember to take a look at the war time version of her for more info!
