*************OLD ART CIRCA 2009**********
The Magikarp is pulled from the tank with a strong net, flopping as it is known to do and letting out calls of its name. The bright red fish stares with an absent gaze reminiscent of a Psyduck, ignorant as it is thrust upon a wooden cutting board that the waters weren't going to be returned to it. A swift thunk of metal on wood, the Magikarp's head is removed from its body though it still moves, mouth gasping for breath that it no longer needed.
Swiftly the rest of the creature's body is artfully sliced and arranged on a bed of leaves and sprouts. Rigor mortis is at risk of setting in and the chef hurriedly adds the still moving head and tail before placing the plate on the table full of other beautifully prepared dishes.
The fish gasps for breath, far from alive but staring and struggling as if it could still get to the tank full of oblivious water types in the distance.

For some reason I just wanted to draw Magikarp sashimi after thinking about live sushi. I might do a whole series of pictures like this, I already have another one to add soon with poaching as the topic of choice. Really, there are no real animals in the Pokemon world, what do they eat? I'm just going to solve that problem.
I'm rather proud about this picture, don't have much to complain about. Nothing really. I'll most likely ink and color it, but I was worried about inking and making a mistake since I do it by hand and I wanted to put it up in all its glory before I have a risk to butcher it as I go.
And as a note, yes, people do eat live fish. Live shrimp in sake, whole baby fish in a thin broth, and of course many meals like the poor Magikarp. Though ones like this, or if you ever hear the story of the half deep fried fish, you can be assured that they are dead. It is only the nerve endings that are still firing that make the fish move but it does provide a thrill for many.
*******If someone would like to color this I would REALLY appreciate it as I'm really fond of this picture. I'll do a commission in return : ) *******
