So, i was sitting around, being unproductive, when the though occurred to me. wouldn't it be cool to have a P51D as a fighter jet? So, after i was done drawing up an aerodynamically-feasible version of the X-wing, i drew this up. that was about half a year ago. just now, i wrote up the general stats for this here little pony. so, without further delay...
Stats:
Name: F-51D “Mustang”
Type: Fighter/Interceptor
Faction: Whoever has one
Dimensions:
Length: 9.83 m
Width/Wingspan: 11.28 m
Height/depth: 4.08 m: tail wheel on ground
Structural Layout: un-swept wings in the middle/front of the fuselage, standard tail configuration, no propeller, canards, bubble cockpit
Offensive:
• 6x M85’s firing .50 BMG (expect nothing less from a Mustang)
• 4x hard points for AMRAAMs
• 2x hard points for ASRAAMs
• 10x hard points for rockets
• AESA radar
• ODIR
Defensive:
• Redundant fly-by-wire controls
• Standard cable controls
• Flares
• Chaff
• AESA radar
• ODIR
Sublight: 1 Pratt & Witney F151 Afterburning Turbofan. max speed mach 1.2
FTL: I would not hesitate to fly this fucking thing into a mass relay
Power Plant: 1 Pratt & Witney F151 Afterburning Turbofan
Extra:
• Variable scoop intake on the nose
• Takes its everything, and pays tribute to the P51D of WWII
i originally wanted to use the F119 or F135 powerplants, but they were too long, and i didn't want to have to push the cockpit back. do you think i should file this as an equine?

Love the concept, love the plain.
I have been doing something similar with my F4U Corsair for years, though I used more Sify teck, have one of Iron mans puls drives in the back of the engine cowling and Hyper drive engines hidden in the wings behind the landing Flaps. Kept the prop there to blend in with older planes and still fly using it when in atmo though its driven by an electric motor now. maby I should do the same for hear as you have and put this down on paper. thanks for the push.
