With a bit of patience I managed to get the cement applied across the bottom of the tin. A thinner layer was applied to the sidesto help contain the fuel- these will not be exposed to full forging temperature.
An important note; I Levelled the sirface by gathering material towards the center of the tin, where the majority of the heat will be contained. This resulted in a relative thickness of material of 3/4 of an inch in the center and 1/2 an inch around the edges.
I also re-inforced the cement already put around the rim.
The fire cement isn't properly smoothed- it doesn't really need to be so long as thickness is more or less even.
