It was a commission, and I believe it's a gift for someone. :)

The story:

My sister works at a theatre production that uses many live animals - everything from skunks to camels to a talking raven. She works as an animal handler/trainer. Her favorite animals to work with are the macaws, of which they used to have four. Her favorite Macaw was a little cutie named Rainbow - she fully intended to adopt him when he retired. He was in fine health but got rapidly sick and deteriorated fast - there literally was nothing to be done to save him, they fixed one problem and another arose. She was devastated. So in turn I commissioned probably a good dozen art pieces of Rainbow for her. Anything to make her smile. Rainbow's favorite thing to say to my sister was "I love you"
