Cover of a new track on Keane's album "Strangeland", released on the 7th of May.
I haven't been very active on either gallery of mine, so here's a little WIP I started tonight. Lyrics are relevant to me right now, it's a cute song with an identifiable meaning.
Just a rough piece. Not really mixed as I haven't finished it. Piecing it together to vent.
I'm going back to the time when we owned this town
Down Powder Mill Lane, in the battlegrounds
We were friends and lovers and clueless clowns
I didn't know I was finding out now I'd be torn from you
When we talked about things we were gonna do
We were wide eyed dreamers and wiser too
Go down to the rides on East Parade,
by the lights of the Palace Arcade
Watch night coming down on the Sovereign Light Café
I'm begging you for some sign, but you've still got nothing to say
Don't turn your back on me don't walk away
I'm a better man now than I was that day
Go down to the rides on East Parade,
by the lights of the Palace Arcade
Watch night coming down on the Sovereign Light Café
Go down to the bandstand on the pier
Watch the drunks and the lovers appear
Take time, just the stars at the Sovereign Light Café
I wheel my bike off the train,
Up the North Trade Road,
Look for you on Marley Lane
In every building, every streetside
Oh why did we ever go so far from home?
You keep on leaving me mile long traces of who you are
You can get a big house and a faster car
You can run away boy, but you won't go far

Oh no, don't buy it, my voice would give you an intracranial hemorrhage!
No problem though, it was a happy accident that I happened to see this on the front page. I'mma listen to more of your stuff later though -- I love the quality of your voice. I just wish I knew more about music to adequately articulate why I like it. :D

Every time I come to my new submissions box and see you made a new song...it never fails to make me smile or blow me away in some way. I think I speak for most of us when I say...please keep on singing, Lily. You really have a gift...and you should share it with as many people as possible.
Oh goodness e.e;;! Your comment is so sweet! I am really glad you enjoy my music and I am so appreciative of your support and kind comments on my music :) Thanks for always listening to things I upload. I am coming out of my shell a little and singing at work where everyone can hear, so perhaps some day I will get brave enough to sing to people properly :3
Damn Lilly...just wow. Every time I hear you sing it makes me smile to know what a beautiful gift you have and its awesome that you share it. I hope one day the whole world will get to hear it because you have a beautiful voice and the music loves you as much as you love it.

Aww thank you so much... ^_^;! I'm still really shy about singing in front of people, and this kind of singing is not easy for me, where I am singing lower down. You can hear the strain in my voice here a bit but I thought it might add some emotion to it in a way. Anyways, thank you very much indeed :D!
Your voice seems to come through with a lot of clarity and volition, but given different circumstance and the content of this song, it's easy to see why. With that, the song hits off with a lot of sincerity and longing that I'm sure it was intended to carry. You've done it justice. I mean, I may be over thinking it or looking too deeply, but I an endearing appreciation for music that sounds like it was sung with legitimate emotions.
It's a beautiful piece, there is no denying that fact. I look foward to hearing the completed version.
My very best to you, Lily.

I am glad you think that way. I try to put the correct feel in to the vocals but sometimes it's hard. I think some songs suit a male vocalist over female, I was worried this would be one of those songs... but everyone so far has said positive things about it :) I may redo the vocals, I am not sure yet. I hope to finish it soon, but typically my father is vacuuming lol LOUD VACUUM CLEANER GO. Thanks for being so patient lately with me... I will write you soon x
I think the vocals fit rather well. Just the way you sing it feels like your reminiscing fondly on good times, sad to see them gone, yet still pleased with having experienced them. And if this was intended to be a male only performed song, you most certainly would be made the exception. Heh, sorry to hear about the untimely cleaning. I'm sure you'll get it done, and with great quality on top of it.
As for being patient, think nothing of it. In all these regards, in on your time, not the other way around. I expect no deadline. Be well and get back with me when you can.

I am glad it has that feeling to it. It's a very nice feeling, looking back at how things were and recognising how things have changed, how people and their feelings change and how the past looks from the future instead of the immediate time it is lived. It makes sense to me right now given what I have been going through, maybe it is even helping me to see sense in the chaos and come to terms with my loss.
^______^ aww. You two are too kind. I have come a long way with my voice in the past year or so I think. I am a lot happier with it. I seem to have developed a decent amount of control :3 and power behind my notes, which I definitely didn't have before. I actually just tried to sing Ave Maria last night, it sounds so much stronger than my last attempt and I can sing it with less strain/effort. ^_^ Very pleased with myself!
