However, my computer bluescreened on me and it turns out one of the sticks in my dual channel kit is going faulty. And because it's DDR2 is going to cost something like $80 to replace the 4gb kit.

16gb of DDR3 would only cost $110 or so. That however requires building an entirely new computer. ._.
