I've actually done metrics on this sort of thing, and in general, the FA community will give you 10% of the # of views as favs. # of views is directly related to your number of watches and quality of tags (more eyes to recognize, front page only lasts for about 2-5 minutes). But for popufurs and superstarfurs, down to joe random furry, the numbers are pretty much the same. I havent done any metrics on comments yet.. but I think those are driven by titles and short, to the point descriptions.

well I have to say that if a artwork has favorites, then it is doing well. Comments would of course be beneficial to the submitter as it provides feedback, but not having comments doesn't mean that you did a bad job. In some cases, they can't find the right words or are too shy to speak up. I know I do sometimes.
actually the whole thing is... mainly a joke. It came out when i talked with my boyfriend about receiving no comments on a drawing with a lot of faves. I know it is silly and ythat is why i drew one of my characters being over the top and dramatic on the topic XD
I still complain from tie to times, but i also know if people watch it and like it, should be good enough X3
