I disagree, not about this being a better design (which it is), but about them trying to make Tali hot. I'm pretty certain they planned on never revealing Quarian faces to begin with. It seems like they decided to cave in for fans at the last moment, which is why they were so lazy and quickly photoshopped that photo. They weren't even motivated enough to draw her, they just wanted to avoid provoking the wrath of Tali fans for not letting us see her face. Obviously, this backfired.
No no, my point is they would never allow Tali to look distinctly alien because they WANT her to be hot. The lazy photoshop job just seals the deal and cements my point. They are unwilling to make her look alien because that would anger more fans than a standard-fare human hotty design.
Perhaps, but then again, they created Thane to be the "hot alien guy". He looks human-ish, but is clearly alien. I think they would do something similar for the Quarians, if they put in the time/effort.
But you could very well be right too. Unfortunately, people are stupid, and there probably would be complaints if Tali was distinctly non-human. Guess we will never truly know.
