Roland, the 6'3, 280 pound beaver, learns the hard way that Derrer, the 4'11", 99 pound lop rabbit, hates to be called short.
Derrer might be a little guy, but he's got one heck of a chip on his shoulder about his stature, and he'll go off on anyone he darn well pleases. Though I wager right now Roland is wondering just how far he can toss the bunny.
I'm so glad I finally finished this one. It's been a sketch for over a year now, and I always loved it. Feels great to have it done.

Other than the obvious, I find something else particularly funny about this picture, and I'm almost sure it was inadvertant when it was colored:
The Oregon State University mascot is the beaver, and the University of Oregon's team colors are yellow and green (same as that beaver's pants). Although both universities are in Oregon they have an incredible rivalry.
Ah well... I suppose you'd have to know about those universities to appreciate the conditional humor.

Actually, I didn't know that. I picked green because it went well with brown, and it was a color commonly found in clothing in Eastern Europe and Western Russia in the early 1300's, when Roland was supposed to live. Yellow was an accent color that seemed to fit, as well. And, I'm a Huskies fan, myself.
