Just a few of the not-so-numerous thing I'd been drawing this month. Most of this was to just try and recharge the batteries, so to speak.
That said, I really should be sketching more in general.
I thought I'd revisit some of my old characters from my university animation project "A Night Out" to see how I'd go about drawing them now. I think I may have to do more of these at some point, Keisha is particularly fun to draw. :)
Also, did some general fanart and Fran cosplay.

With Keisha, I kinda just make it up. I've got a few loose guidelines in my head for her, but as she's so... ample... I just sort go with whatever seems to work while I'm drawing her. She's always fun to work with :)
As for Fran, I just try to remember to keep her torso fairly short (with variable success, admittedly) and try not to make her legs too long so that the width of her hips comes out right. I just have to keep in mind that she's fairly short.

I was looking at these sketches and it got me to wondering, what is it that makes your characters seem so "Alive?" Is it their seemingly natural and unforced postures? Perhaps. Then it hit me. It's the eyes. Yes. the way you render the faces, especially the eyes gives the characters a "Personality." Even the "Generic" faced characters have that quality.
She's from my university degree animation from back in 2007, which can be seen here: http://funkyalien.deviantart.com/ar.....t-Out-70630074
