It definitely takes a bit of time to tell tell the differences in insects, as there are quite a few that look fairly similar. It is kind of like the difference between a milk and coral snake, they look alike, but the coral snake is deadly...
It just takes a bit of time and research and a good camera doesn't hurt either.
