I wanted to goof around on my day off, so I went to work in suit and bought a few thing :p
My boss thought it was hilarious.
I also had a few little kids giggling and stalking me around the store

I actually had someone make a very similar comment to me today while I was suiting.
He was all like "Watch out for guys in orange jackets, they might get confused!"
While I found it amusing, the guy seemed dead serious. Does he think people are really that stupid? (And besides, I was in a city park... not like people are hunting there, lol)

Yeah, when it's done right it can be a great experience for everyone. That's why I rage so hard when I hear about the suiters that think "I will just go to the park and play with the kids" or "I will just walk into the mall!" because they don't think "hey, parents might not want a random stranger in a mask around their kids."
It's a fine line being available for fun and not pushing it to be annoying and intrusive and too many furries will just put on a suit and think they can just go.

Fay usually I'm terrified of any kind of suiting (like I punched goofy terrified >_>), but these pics are kind of helping me not to be.
(Doesn't mean that the first con I go to I will be all lovey dovey like a lot of people are. I most likely will sit in a corner and try not to die. x.x I already told CC he has to come with me. xD)

Yeah, and that's something I have trouble with - I constantly worry about what others think, even though it's never a big deal. Like I always worry about if anyone can hear my metal blasting through my earphones at work, if people notice my Legend of Zelda: Twilgiht Princess lanyard (yes I have trouble socializing so I tend to try to wear things and hope people notice and ask about it. *foreveralone.jpg*). I was thinking of putting my fursona inside my laminated card case that hangs from the aforementioned lanyard, too. That would look a lot like a furcon badge.
Now I know you said this is where you work, but just out of curiosity, when you do call for permissions at a place you don't work for, how do you usually go about explaining your intentions?
There's a few private establishments around where I live that I think would not be opposed to my being in fursuit, as long as I let them know in advance, but I've been stuck trying to decide how I should explain what I want to do and why I want to do it to them.

Depends on my plans.
With my boss I explained that I have this costume and sometimes like to go around to stores in it, then I asked her if that's okay, showing her a picture of what it looks like.
When I go bowling I usually just call ahead the day beforehand. I explain that we're having a little get together and one or two people with have mascot like costumes, and ask if that's alright with them.
Sometimes I'll just walk down mainstreet and want to go in a shop like the burger place. In that case I'll wait by the door and my handler will just ask if it's okay if I come in. I haven't gotten a no yet, but if I did i'd just wait outside.
Usually just explaining it as "I have a mascot costume" really helps. people know what those are. you can explain the species and everything. I've never gotten too many hard questions about it, generally just "we like to go around town. would it be alright if we came in and bought a few things with this costume on" patronage goes a long way. If you are taking part in the business people are more forgiving than if you just walk around drawing attention.
