That was one of the better Gabby Gums stories. Honestly, for managing to somehow get that picture (did he go to Canterlot? did she come to Ponyville?) I thought he should get a Pulitzer.
The moon room was a cute idea. The evil Celestia sending little ponies to the moon thing for real was getting a bit old.

And yup, that's why I came up with this gag. "TO THE MOOOOONNNNAAAAHHH BEEEEYAAAAATCH" was getting mighty old.

Once upon a time, Princess Luna had her bedroom decorated to look like the surface of the moon. She thought it was a cute idea, given her title as Moon Princess. But after she turned into Nightmare Moon and was banished to the moon for a thousand years, the idea didn't seem so cute anymore when she returned. So, the Moon Room was made into a time-out room for misbehaving ponies.

I have this fan-theory that Luna basically loves everything that's dark and creepy. I mean, think about it- she's got guards clad in black spiky armor with dragon wings and reptilian eyes, a black chariot with iron chains, and a cloak made of bats. I imagine she sleeps in a coffin and decorates her room with spiderwebs. She's not into evil and gorey stuff- just stuff that's considered "dark". She even had a few skeleton guards in the past, but their heads kept falling off.
I'm picturing a scene similar to the beginning of Micheal Jackson's "Thriller", where both princesses are watching a horror movie, and Celestia is just sinking back into her chair wide-eyed in terror, while Luna is next to her happily munching popcorn and giggling like a schoolgirl.

While I don't think Celestia would be mad for getting caught eating cake, she seems like the type to WANT to be seen like everyone else, I also can see her having a "moon room" she teleports ponies too to make them think she sent them to the moon, then has a good laugh when she turns out to be messing with them
