For a couple of years, I do a new Easter egg for the seasonal decoration; I prefer to do miniatures, as they are both difficult and easy to do at once.
With this egg I celebrate my vacation in Constantinople/Istanbul last summer. I have chosen the same view I already used in this picture: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6543719/ because I love the mood the colours create. The Golden Horn itself is a mixture of modern day Istanbul and impressions from its history. Maybe this does its magic justice.
The symbol in the cartouche is the thugra, the monogram of the sultan.
