goddamnit where did my get up and go go? I used to draw so much more than this...
Anyway, redesigned Marana's outfit again. Here's a sort of turn around of her new duds. Also a color reference.
For those unaware, Marana is a Lohrke, a subterranean species of humanoids with bioluminescent globes and eyes that die when exposed to the sun for to long. Marana comes from a city built within a volcano and lives on a Magma Diver ranch (large magma dwelling beetles that basically shoot napalm out of their butts). The suit she is wearing is a modified suit designed to protect her from the heat of the magma and the Magma Diver's spray. She modified it herself to make it more comfortable for extended use to use in her scheme to sneak off and visit the surface, which is a societal taboo.

If by "stop bothering to even try" you mean "draw all of the Marana forever". c:
I was non-jokingly thinking that the faceplate resemblance to Tali was interesting and totally makes sense in this context (darker faceplate trying to shield the eyes from excessive light exposure?). I don't think of it as a ripoff, but the association will probably happen just due to ME's popularity. Pretty much everything in character design has been tried before; it's just a question of how you bring together all the disparate elements that matters.
Besides, Marana's hotter than Tali anyways. :V

Yeah. That was SUCH a huge letdown, seriously.
I mean... I can't even imagine what the whole package must look like with those hands and feet. Putting a human face on a body like that just seems like it would result in something truly terrifying once you go all the clothes off. D:

I'll have to take a look sometime, but yeah getting a comic to start off is a real tough challenge I've failed atleast twice and working on a 3rd with a friend. I would really like to hear more of this story sometime it seems like a really good adventure and could be very beautiful. Also I was wondering if I could do something with one of those headshots you did on that bunch of sketches I could use something to take me away from my gritty art style.
Well I wanted to try and redraw it on my sketch pad for the fun of it, then I wanted to ink your pic in SAI, and make it look like shes looking up at the stars at night, since she apperntly visits the surfaces world, but can't go during day because of the sun.....if I got the story right so far.

And Marana is actually not the main character of the story I'm working on, but a member of the main party. The whole thing with wanting to go to the surface, but can't go out in the sun, is indeed a thing that is true, and a big part of her motivation though.
