I love the idea of the UN, but in practice has it ever actually accomplished anything..? I mean, apart from hiring an unruly mob to "police" poor areas which apparently has a long and storied history of abusing that power rather than helping the regions they're stationed in. x.x

In any event, no, the UN cannot actually change the legal status of an activity, practice, or item within any nation. They have no sovereignty over anything. They're more or less just a diplomatic club made up of people who do have that power, who hope to impress enough people with their collective might that they might choose to fall in line, rather than make nations fall in line.

I doubt spanking is illegal, just widely frowned upon. I was spanked as a naughty child in the early 90s but then so were a lot of others back then. Did I like it? No. I'm not surprised Amira doesn't either. I don't like being murdered but I've never been (obviously). That doesn't mean I like it. Loads of pictures of FA are illegal, this is beyond mild if even counted!
