I was answering questions as a robot lady from the future when someone asked "What's one thing from the early 21st century you're really glad has disappeared from the planet?".
And this fell out.

I know this is an old submission, but I want to clarify that not all republicans are bible toting bigots.
I'm an Atheist, Lesbian woman with a trans partner yet I identify with the republican party for fiscal reasons. There are ALOT of republicans out there who just take the economic stance rather than the social stances that get spread around by the loud extremists.
I just felt a strong need to defend myself, my party and my fellow man as I feel it's completely unfair to decide the entire lot are monsters for the actions of the few.

you… what?
you… Do you vote for them? The same people who are in bed with the looney gay-hating right?
I mean, if you vote for them and they bow down to that craziness, if they do all that shit where they dig in their heels and scream NO NO NO until they get their way, if they push through legislation that denies you the right to be with your partner in the event of some catastrophe, all that crazy shit, you can't really say "I only voted for them for fiscal reasons". You can't say "I'm only here for the fiscal policy" when they scream and vote down Obama's health care policy solely because it came from a Democrat, even though it's basically the exact same plan their side proposed in response to a better plan a few years back. If you're voting that way, you're partially responsible for all that stuff they do.
I really hope that every time one of your Republican representatives is campaigning for that kind of crap you contact them and express your displeasure as a queer trans-loving woman who helped vote them in. Because you know you are basically voting for people who are working to make life harder for you, right?
I am seriously curious how you reconcile these things. Because from what I see, most Republican legislators basically don't want people like me or you or your sweetie to exist, much less have the full rights and privileges of an ordinary straight white Christian male.
(and me, I'm putting my money where my mouth is - I'm giving up on the Dems, who are for all intents and purposes where the Repubs were back in the 80s, and voting for Pirate/Green/Socialist.)

Look, it's my fantasy world, okay? A girl can dream.
Besides, while it feels like it's been around forever, the horrible three-way alliance between the Republicans, crazypants Fundamentalists, and short-sighted business interests is actually a relatively recent innovation. I mean Lincoln was a Repub.

What a lovely idea. I can get behind this. And more. Not just because it's a well-crafted piece of art, either. I like to think we'll be doing a better job of working together in the future. That the present stew of religious psychopaths, corporate monarchs and elected sellouts will get punted like the last time--when Communism was actually a threat--and the time before the last time. Things seem to be trending that way.
I hope you're out and enjoying the sunshine, Good Miz Peg.
