S/he was just giving you some pointers for next time; the scutes seem too thick.
Also, s/he's right. These are lamias, not nagas. You can grab a lizard and call it a frog, but that doesn't make it so. Lamias are "human" from the top up, as seen here, while nagas are water spirits/dragons with (often multiple) cobra heads and spiny scales.
