The brakes use an hydropneumatic system.
Here, you have a traditional pedal, but it only press on a "mushroom" like in the famous Citroën DS.

The engineers had to install that pedall over the mushroom, because it was difficult for normal people to drive it.

On the original DS indeed it's still fun to feel and VERY sensitive. but it's also like the buttons of the PS2 pad, with a bit of experience, you brake like you want to.
