Today I learned that a typical horizontal-squares of alternating color pattern is called checkers or checuy, but when presented at a 90-degree angle, like on these masks, it's called lozengy. Both terms originate from coat-of-arms patterns. How cool is that?
Same deal as my last submission- trying out miniature masks for dolls or figures. The far left one was actually made as a 1/4 scale, rather than 1/3, but I found the leather was simply too thick and impractical. Maybe I'll try again when I can get some thinner-grade leather.
These are painted in metallic paint, and also a manual mix of non-metallic paint and gold pigment suspended in acrylic medium to make a warm metallic color. The pre-blended metallics turned out more 'sparkly'.
