This is my buddy, Caesar, and he's an almost full grown bearded dragon. His story is another sad story of abuse and abandonment, that has ended with his coming to my arms.
He has been passed between 4 different owners before ending up with me, all throughout the entirety of his life. As a baby, he was bought at a small reptiles store in St. Louis by a girl. The girl, though cat, who had adored the view of the tiny lizard. One day, when the girl was doing homework with Caesar perched on the bed, the cat jumped onto the bed and attacked him. The injuries were severe, and cost Caesar his front-right appendage and a portion of his tail.
Upon seeing the injured lizard, the girl rushed him to a veterinary clinic to keep him alive. Through lots of tissue repair, the parents of the girl recieved the bill, and had refused to pay for the operations that had been performed on Caesar. He was abandoned, and left under the care of the veterinarian and his staff.
Caesar then passed into the hands of one of the receptionists at the veterinarian clinic. Luckily, he was much happier and safer in her hands than in the previous owner's. She had kept Caesar for two years, until she had to move off to college, where he was passed to a friend in high school. He kept Caesar for a few weeks, but had turned out to be much more than he could handle. So, Caesar was passed onto another friend, where he was kept for three months. This friend, who was a friend of mine, was a senior in high school, was also going off to college that winter. He asked me to take him, and I accepted with glee!
So far, he has been living a fairly comfortable life, with a daily meal of crickets and pinkies. Everyday I can, I hold him and cuddle with him on my lap, and he has seemed to be happier than ever.
