Familiar to people into Warhammer fantasy, the Landsknechts were badass renaissance era mercenaries who started in Switzerland and spread across Western Europe. Their clothing was the punk fashion of the day: bright and garish downmarket versions of the elaborate clothing worn by the nobility, often with boastful codpieces. Those with gold saved up might even have it melted down and fashioned into chains, Mr. T style.

Despite their looks they could be plenty brutal in combat, as contemporary art shows. We even have wonderfully drawn depictions from people who were Landsknechts themselves. Their style lives on in the modern Swiss Guard, halberds and all.
