Oh ho ho...a challenger approacheth. Look don't try to get the moral high ground with me and don't try to chase me away from my opinion. I have just a much a right to declare the way I feel about something as anyone else. Just as someone who has a foot fetish or a hyper-obese character has a right to post as well.
Yea...and I can agree with that...but...you don't see me barging on your page criticizing you about your beliefs either, which I might add are ALL over your page and in your art. This art is a reflection of my beliefs. Besides I fight for gay rights...so really, you're trying to shut me up for nothing.
Oh, I had a good discussion ready, because I thought he was a Christian calling Atheists immoral because of one guy. However, I didn't notice that he had commented before I posted mine, so I deleted it to save face.
If you will be so kind as to excuse me, I need to find a proper corner to die in...

Reinhard Heydrich and Heinrich Himmler were the architects of the "Final Solution", what eventually became known as the Holocaust. They oversaw and approved the methods and people to be exterminated. Hitler just gave the go ahead. I don't know why people just assume Hitler did everything. He had plenty of people working for him that were just as, if not more, deranged than he was.
Oh, I was just trying to debunk the long-already-debunked myth that Hitler was an Atheist. He was a Catholic. Even given the argument that he was, there is still no evidence to suggest that what he did would have been -because- he was an atheist. In fact, I'd find that extremely unlikely.
This. Right here. I tell people I work with on a daily basis, and family members...but everyone insists I need to repent and save my soul!!! It's so full of lulz.
I get those crazy little mini comic book style religious propaganda things shoved in my locker at least twice a week at work, which is a fireable offense if they're caught. I like to tear out certain pages and make little scenes out of them on my locker. They usually get torn down the day I put them up, but it's all good fun. At least I know how to not let it get under my skin and either just let it blow by, or deal with it with humor. These people who scream loudest about this county being founded on religious freedom sure don't like giving us our freedom to abstain from religion.
Mini rant done. I love barfing out my thoughts to like minded individuals, call me conceited a bit, I may agree. ;D

I find it ironic that atheists are seen by religious folk as immoral. Morality is about doing what is right, regardless of what you're told by an authority or social construct. In my view, and proven throughout history, religions have been a source of amorality since the dawn of civilisation. Animals and people were/are sacrificed for gods by people contemporarily referred to as savages and primitive tribesmen. Just a few centuries ago were the Crusades followed by the Inquisition which saw people tortured for not believing in the Christian/Catholic god. Even today there is still violence between religions. With atheism there is no excuse to harm another person for not agreeing.
A lot of the Catholics in my area, when learning I'm an atheist, sometimes ask me "what it's like" to not believe in some form of supernatural power guiding everything. I usually answer it first by asking them if they believe in {insert deity from random religion here}, to which they obviously reply a firm "no." So I explain to them that when they can comprehend exactly how they can automatically dismiss all the other possible gods of all the other religions, they might stand a chance to understand why I can easily dismiss theirs. Secondly I explain how much more awesome it is to see the natural order of the universe without there being a deity of some kind controlling it. The genome, fractals, the inverse square law of gravitation; they're all very elegant, magnificently beautiful discoveries of how the universe works on its own - free of any arbitrary construct of some deity.
The difference between science and religion: If all signs of civilisation were wiped out and humanity had lost its entire history, effectively putting us back into the Cave Age with no guide nor compass or shred of knowledge; religion would develop differently each time whereas science would discover things to be the same. Ra, Zeus, Tlazolteotl... Millennia ago it was religion, today it's mythology. God, Allah, Krishna... today it's religion, millennia from now it'll be mythology. You don't need to invent a magical being to tell you how the universe works, our own intelligence can do that for us.

First , thanks, zhaarteth, couldn´t have said it better.
I keep on telling religious people always the same answer, if i´m forced to it, normally i try to avoid this matter with them.
I tell them i am a humanist. I believe in humanity, an that everything, being it bad or good, is not coming from some Uber-Being, but only from us. Mostly they can accept this answer, because its true. I do believe in ourselves, and besides all shortcomings, we are going to a better future.
(Also it freaks me out that there could be a supernatural being wich can even control my thoughts)

I'd rather believe that an invisible Spongebob is behind me than believe that a selfish sky daddy is watching me masturbate. I'm an agnostic-pantheist, but I've looked at the Bible and it's far from moral. If I'm going to hell for loving someone of the same sex or working on the Sabbath, then I guess we're all going to hell, because I bet at least most of those Christians eat shellfish and it says that eating it is a sin.
I don't have a problem with people who follow religion, I have a very open mind at the end of the day and although I don't believe in God or souls, ghosts, reincarnation or anything I am just "superstitious" enough never to offer to sell my soul juuust in case hehe
I am aware of how closed minded religion tends to make people though, seeing people clinging to "rules" laid out hundreds or thousands of years ago just makes no sense to me whatsoever and it often contradicts itself so often it's alarming. People like to use religion as a smokescreen as an excuse to flaunt their own prejudices or to gain something. The Crusades were more about exploiting the vast wealth of the east than chucking the indigenous people out of Jerusalem to claim the holy land back. The few controlled the masses to get what they wanted. The worst atrocities committed in history have been done in the name of some God or another so personally I am glad I am not involved in it.
But that's me, not meant to offend, just my personal views.

No matter what the view, religious or not, people can use their view to do immoral things. Atheism can be immoral if people use it to belittle other people. Eg: Calling someone stupid simply because they are religious in some way. I have seen a lot of extremely rude atheists who think this way. I know some very level headed and intelligent people who are religious, who are also involved in the field of science or even medicine.
I am agnostic myself. I also like to be able to see the benefits and faults of everyone, regardless of their beliefs. And yes, atheism is a belief.

Oh yes, I know that very well.
I do believe that atheism is a belief based on how the scientific method works.
Stating that "The christian god does NOT exist" is a belief, since it is not possible to apply such a thing in an experiment. Unless of course there is something specific that a Christian god does that all Christians agree on. Eg: The claim that the Christian god will make a bald person grow hair if he/she does a specific ritual. This is something that can be measured. But then again, it only theorizes whether the claim of godly hair growth is real or not.
Unless I am getting the definition of Atheist wrong here, the belief that god does not exist is a belief. Just like believing that pokemon does not exist (in the real world).
It may sound silly, like it should be OBVIOUS that pokemon does not exist in the real world and the nonexistence of them SHOULD not be a belief, but science does not work that way.
But of course if a so called Atheist simply does not purely support or oppose the existence of god, then there is no belief either way. A neutral position. But is this neutral position really Atheism?
Words and definitions are funny things. They evolve over time based on how people use them in communication. So there honestly isn't much of a point in discussing the true definition of an Atheist.
TL;DR though, you cannot scientifically prove the nonexistence of a god, so the notion that "god does not exist" is a belief. And I say this as a person who does not personally believe in the Christian god.

My analogy for religions, specifically the hateful ones, is like this: Someone has a ball of filth and puts sprinkles on it, and demands I like it and eat it because it has 'healthy' sugar sprinkles on it. I don't want people shoving that filth down my throat. DX
And pointing out the sprinkles doesn't make the whole of it any better; 'tis still filth. So..

I'm not going to ask you why you walk as an atheist. Probably traumatic personal experience or such...
Will your philosophy support you on your deathbed after the doctors have done all they could ?
I, for one, can not imagine eternal unconsciousness. My mind slides right off it !
Matter is not capable of consciousness.

Bro, don't try to comprehend science because as of time of writing CLEARLY you do not quite get it. As for my viewpoints, yes some of it leans on traumatic person experience...
(the experience being that I found my dad lying dead in my living room about a year ago and I decided no God could ever have a plan so cruel as to take him away from me in such a horrible manner but I digress)... My philosophy will ALWAYS support me because, it's my life. As of this very moment depending on my actions I can dictate what happens to me. Sure something may happen and I could die...but does that bother me? No. We are all tiny little beings in a universe larger than most of us can comprehend, and I for one find it fascinating to think of all the many ways our universe works, rather than just leave it to some invisible person in the sky and let him figure it out for us.
As for matter not being capable of consciousness...ugh...*facepalm*
Bro...we are MADE of matter...we have MASS...we have a consciousness because we are slightly more advanced than something that is ALSO made of matter...like a rock. As I said, don't try and strain your brain comprehending such an idea if you won't even make the effort to understand it.
Also, don't even try saying that I'm in denial, because I've almost always been an atheist, I tried the religion thing before, and then the friend who got me into it killed himself...my reasons are valid to me, and I don't need to explain myself to you mate. Thanks for your time.

No it isn't because of a traumatic experience. It isn't like atheism or any form of irreligion is a new thing. It is just as ancient or perhaps even more ancient than religion.
Mormons try to baptize the dead and so deathbed stuff doesn't mean much either. I am also apatheist so I don't see myself worshiping something just because some one else does it. Some worship the sun but that doesn't mean I see the sun as something to worship. At least the sun is real compared to other imaginary gods.

Ah, but so often those who *do* have faith also lack genuine morals. Why else would they quote (and mis-quote) the bible instead of speaking from their sense of justice? Why else would they cherry-pick their scruples and their hatred from any page they can find it on, while ignoring so much that is plain to read?
They accuse you of not having morals because to them, mindless obedience of the church *is* morality. It is the only sense of conscience they possess: the need to support their tribe.

i'm an atheist and i keep trying to explain to my prison cell mate that my cannibalizing of those geriatrics had absolutely 0 relation to my belief that there is no god. just because i was yelling about how i get a little hot and bothered looking at charles darwin and i think jesus is a total doofus as i chewed on gramma gretchin's face meat doesn't mean i'm immoral smh
oh i'm sorry, what that too logic for u???? checkmate christians

This is very evident today in politics. Just look at the democrats and crazy leftists doing everything they can to disrupt the peace, destroying historical monuments and basically becoming the american version of isis without cutting off heads..
Humans are freaking Insane!
Humans are freaking Insane!
I would say some genocides that happened in the last 100 years had more to do with politics, there is still sometimes a religious bent to them. But yes, I would say most human suffering for the last 3-4 thousand years has been around the mind set "my god is better than your god and I'm going to kill you to prove it". Especially everything from around 500 AD literally up to today, from the Crusades up to modern evangelicals who do everything they can to impose their backwards views on everyone else and actively wish death on anyone deemed unworthy.
While there are quite a number of non-religious people who have committed terrible crimes, I think it's even worse when someone who claims to follow a religion of peace and believes in a loving deity then causes pain and suffering, be it to one person or a million. These days people who holy books as a cudgel, as a way of explaining away their twisted view point.
But I absolutely agree; being an atheist does not make you immortal or evil. One does not need religion to have morals like you said :)

So I was curious about people's opinion on religion in the furry community and I am actually kind of surprised at how many furries not only believe, but believe in christianity specifically. I kind of imagine that if a theocracy suddenly took over the world tomorrow, our community would be one of the first things to be taken away from us.
I know this is an old comment, but Unfortunately the majority actually supports it. A good portion has no opinion, but the furries against religion are a minority.
It actually fucked me up when I realized that not all LGBT+ people hold the same opinions as I do about religious people. (I hold the same exact views towards religious people the same way they view LGBT+ people and rights in every way)
