Man it's been a while since I've posted on FA... Good to be back :)
It’s really interesting to truly consider the characteristics of animals when designing an anthro. For Raccoon Woman here, I decided to make her fat because when I look at raccoons I see them as round animals and even when they’re skinny they have some fat-like movements as they don’t move streamline like a cat but have a bit of a waddling feel to it. It makes them walk like a fat duck xD
A lot of furry characters have the legs digitigrade (aka walking on their toes like a dog or cat) regardless of the legs and walking of the animal in question. That baffles me x_x Raccoons are plantigrade (aka walking on their feet like humans or bears) so I’ve kept the feet that way. And dammit, hopefully saying that will make some other anthro artists care about the difference of plantigrade and digitigrade in the future!
But mostly in short: Anthros are awesome for practicing human anatomy while also learning a lot about animal anatomy. It also gives a great ability for lots of different looking characters.
I really ought to do this more often :B

This is an extremely well done piece! I really love the fact that you've taken such a close look at both the anatomy of the animal, as well as how it would convert/mix with human anatomy. Very interesting! The quality of the picture is also quite nice! Love your fur style and facial expression!
<3 something knowing ANYTHING AT ALL about goddamn animals on this site
Waddling motion comes from very wide hips, which they roll with each step when walking. First both right paws move, then both left paws. Helpful for climbing and not getting pushed over when fighting
