I used to raise my own seedlings for Arbor Day, usually from acorns gathered from nearby hills or leftover chestnuts from Bureom cracking. But that was when I was an elementary school student; that time has long since past.
I would like to continue that again someday.

Didn't realize I had this online or would've posted earlier. Planted as an arbor day seedling when I was in elementary school here in Connecticut, USA, and this year it really is the height of the house. I'd like to imagine the one I planted at school took off as well, but I'll never be back to look.
The interior is sparse in that photo from sawfly larvae (a fun surprise to walk up to!), but after two carefully timed sprayings they haven't been back and it's filled back in.

Ah, only if my own trees managed to survive as yours. All the oak, chestnut, and other various trees and shrubs I planted during that time are gone now, as the city decided to make a parking lot in the place I planted the seedlings. It seems that any trees I have planted eventually get cut down or paved on.... I guess thats because in Korea, there are so many people living in relatively small area that all the 'vacant' lots cannot avoid becoming construction site in the end.
May your tree continue to grow well and prosper.

this is so sweet. I worked in day care for over 4 years and I always made sure that my students gardened with me. We had a lot of little citrus trees in pots from the oranges that they ate in class and students from the year before would come back in to see how their trees were doing
