Decided I'd submit this rough before I threw it out. Rough idea of this weird horned beast. I swear I spent more time researching what this thing could be than working on it. Best guess is it's a Sin-You http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sin-you , Pixiu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixiu , Shisa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shisa , or a Komainu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komainu (which is a ambiguous title for just about any mythological creature that protects or guards a house-hold and the peoples within it.)
