Holy mother of GOD this took forever. X_X;;
I really took my time on this to make sure it turned out exactly right, because it's a piece that was really symbolic to me and had a lot of emotional value, and now that it's done, I'm DAMN pleased with it. I still eventually wanna "finish" it with some proper shades, highlights, and shadows, but ... for the time being, I'll settle on a flat color version, until I have the patience to revisit it, LOL.
I guess this is my first "official" piece pertaining to the subject of being gender fluid, so it's a pretty big milestone. I'm really damn proud of how this turned out, and I hope y'all like it. ^.^
The "male" version of Syn will eventually get his own proper ref sheet, but right now, I'm just too busy to make that happen. XD But definitely expect more art of him in the future!
I can't honestly "claim" that GF logo, as I found it online via Google search (so sadly, since I dunno who made it, I can't really credit them >_<;;), but I -did- basically 'redo" it, in order to clean it up, as the original image was on a white background with a LOT of pixelation, so it was totally unusable. I REALLY liked it, tho, and felt it was a very fitting "symbol" for what it means to be GF.

I was starting to wonder if you'd quit drawing and just made this place your rant board =P
Seriously, tho, it's good to see you drawing again, and I like the colors and composition.
I know this is important to you and you worked on it a long time, so I'll let you decide whether I just leave it at that or give a full critique.

Interestingly enough, I actually draw QUITE a lot, but I scan/digitally complete/upload painfully little of it. I'm laaaaaazy. XD
By all means, any suggestions at all make each piece better! I spotted quite a few lil' things after the fact, but you prolly spotted a lot more than I did. ^_^

Ah, I see =P Pretty much any time I draw something I've gotta show it off, so I just consider scanning and such to be part of the process.
Okay, well ...
I think it'd be more interesting if the two looked a bit more different from each other--yes, I get that they're the same being, but the only things I notice immediately that tell me that one is female and one is male is the eyelashes and goatee, respectively. I think it would have been more interesting to play off of what make men and women different--differences in the length and thickness of limbs, for example. You might look to Ranma 1/2 for inspiration: http://users.ntplx.net/~bbarrett/Ran_p2.jpeg (can't remember if you've seen it or not)
Also, an anatomical thing that bugs me: Her left shoulder is back and the right one is forward, meaning her upper-body would have to be turned toward the camera a little, so you'd be seeing both of her breasts, somewhat, not just the side of one.
And I think you know what's going on with the table, and the guy's leg because I think you're trying to hide it with that random box =P
Still good, tho, and definitely a neat idea. Oh, and I like the greys on the figures with the brightly-colored background--not something I would have thought of to do, but it works.

Yeah, still trying to "figure out" the male version a bit better. I'd like to keep them as similar-looking as possible, but still find ways of strongly identifying more "male" characteristics (gave him thicker brows, omitted the eye shadow, shortened the lashes, added facial hair, etc.). I think it "shows" better when the two characters are separate from one another, but when they're together, since Syn is hardly very "feminine" while female and is very bestial-looking, they end up suffering from "sameface syndrome", as they call it. XD Something I'll hafta find creative ways to work around, while not having to alter the designs too drastically.
Tho I drew a second pic of MaleSyn during class this last week featuring me and my girl and he came out looking a lot "butchier" than he does here, so I think it might also just boil down to practice, practice, practice. X3 I'll be uploading said pic tonight before bed, in fact, as my poor gallery is in dire need of more uploads. *snrk*
Thanks for the tip on FemSyn's torso, didn't catch that! But yeeeeeah, I tried so very hard to cover up my extreme failure of working with props 'n' furniture, hee. It's something I'm sooooo bad at. XD Tho largely, that's due to not doing it nearly often enough, so I'm sure practice'll fix that, too.
Glad ya liked the background, too. The fact that the character features a very "muted' color palette made such a thing possible, so I figured "why not?" Happy to see that it worked out as well as I'd hoped it would. =3
