About the riding gear- I've always thought about how a rider would fit on a dragon without inhibiting wing movement. There is a harness of a small saddle type thing, with straps that loop around the knees and feet to keep the rider in place. The rider is free to lean forward in flight (and is probably more comfortable). ...Think of something similar to a racing saddle and the jockies on them. Her pants are similar to Jodhs, and have a leather padding on the inside of her legs to keep from sliding off.
