This happens every time I feed Strike. Every. Fucking. Time. I quickly open a door, toss in a dead rat and then run away before he bites me, the tongs or whatever else is within striking range. After that I can’t go into my room for the next thirty minutes because he will try to attack me and thereby smash into the glass and I’m scared that he will hurt himself. :( Eventually he will see the rat and eat it but until then I can’t go near him.
Also no, his tank isn't normally that empty, I clear everything out before feeding.

This is what my big red tail boa girl does.
But it's before I even throw it in....she can smell her food coming/thawing across the entire length of the house (big)
So yeah when I am moving around in here before feedings I have quite frequently heard the huge THUMPS of her head hitting the side of her bin(plastic) but I try not to move around too much because I also don't want her to hurt herself.
