Well, the Ouroboros actually represents the concept of the life cycle; a snake eating it's own tail, a common cultural symbol of the perpetual cycle of life and death. I don't think I've ever seen it represent "Homonculus", which is 'masculine' in some context, but literally translates from Latin as "little human" which is generally used when studying other humans.
