For anyone who was at Sakuracon in Seattle, WA this year, you may have seen this person. It's me!
I was cosplaying Utena. Not the one from the show, the one from the movie, seen here:

The reason I posted this is because a grand total of 5 people recognized me and knew the name of the character. Interestingly enough, the consensus seems to be that one either loves or hates Utena, (the series or the movie, not the character herself); I've not found many that don't have any strong feelings about it. I'm definitely in the "love" camp, (obviously).
Yes, I'm aware the movie is by no means as popular as the show, but FIVE?! Don't get me wrong, each and every one of them made the month of hard work worth it and I want to thank each and every one of you for bringing me back from the edge of self-doubt, but still.
What was kind of cool was even the people who had no bloody idea who I was said the costume was very well made. And yes, I plan on replacing that Mark of the Rose for a better one. Funny story, I almost forgot all about it. Yeah, I know; the one detail that matters. -_-**
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't expecting a few more Utena cosplayers this year, (I was even having nightmares about rogue Anthy cosplayers). And this was because the voice of Juri was there last year. For those of you who were there for her Q&A session, the question about Juri was asked for me by a very good friend because I was too sick to go.
I do like Sailor Moon, I really do. It was my very first anime when I lived in Japan and it will always have a special place in my heart, but when my friend told me that the seiyuu said no one had ever asked about Juri before, my heart broke. I'm not about to start a Juri fan club, but she must have SOME fans out there... right?
Seriously? I can not be the only fan of Utena in Washington. So, to the second reason I posted this: fans of Utena, where the goat is the fanbase hiding because I've yet to find it and have been broken down enough to ask for help.
And anyone who would like to discuss Utena, (the series or the movie), is free to note me at their leisure.
Why is my face blurred? Call it what you wish; I have no desire to post my face on the internet. If somebody else does, that's their business. There's nothing saying that a picture of myself has to include my face, so pictures of me will most likely not show my face. The lady's face is blurred for courtesy.
