Rylai Summers is not a happy flower. The daughter of a pair of former hippies turned upwardly-mobile yuppies (sell-outs to the corporate machine and social rapists as she calls them) she inherited all of her parents' youthful idealism and social awareness, but, it would seem, none of the love.

Rylai sees fault and takes offense with just about everyone and everything. A typical day will find her ranting about some real or imagined social injustice or other concern. Environmental issues tend to be popular with her, but her righteous cause can often change with the wind, or according to whatever has ticked her off most recently. While her motives may be good, her angry and grating approach doesn't win many converts to the cause, whatever it may be.

Her parents enrolled her in the Poke-Combat Academy of Higher Learning hoping to curb her rebellious ways but it hasn't met with much success. Initially resentful, Rylai has since come to the realization that with great power comes great ability to be heard. Now she is a very determined and successful student. She sees local or even world championships as the key to getting her message across. Thus far she has rejected every team that she has been assigned to, none of them have been compatible with her rather acerbic personality and so she remains a solo act. Only time will tell if this angry young blossom will learn to stop taking everything around her, including herself, so seriously.

Rylai's greatest assets in a battle are her quickness and agility, backed with a surprising viciousness. A very competent battler, woe is sure to befall those who look at her species and laugh. Yet another social inequity that she aims to solve, by force if necessary.
