Addison rotations and notes about his features.
This has been one of the most involved and detailed projects I've has the pleasure of working on.
I spent a few months researching how to put the hood parts and horn together. The horn needed to be removable.
Head:
The horn pieces attach / detach using cut off tops from "Totally Awesome Laundry Detergent." My friend Dave
timmie gave me a hand with the cutting and assembly of the base. I cut them at an angle to attach each piece, then used the remaining piece to attach it to the gap. The tooth set is one piece, and made out of a soling material called Soletech Cloud Crepe. The center has been stained and pigment removed using nail polish remover. The same with the blue detailing work.
The ears were attached using a zipper stitch, and can sway or flap around freely depending on how the performer wants to move the head. The nostrils are an optical illusion, and one of the cooler ideas besides the horns that I came up with.
Hands and feet:
The inside of the horns are a combination of a foam pool noodle, upholstry foam, water proof tape to seal a section, and anti-pill fleece. The fleece is only glued at the bottom on the plastic portion.
The hoof parts were provided by monoyasha.com. Originally they were going to be placed on the shoe portion of the foot, but I could see through them, the molded color was not even, and one of the hoofs came chipped. Putting it against the shoe made it look too big. After 2 hours of pondering what the heck to do, I raised it up 2" with a strip of 1" foam, and eventually anti-pill fleece.
The original material was red velvet, and that stuff tore to hell. I got very upset and lost a lot of time due to it. I ordered antron fleece, but looking at the characters were I mascot I opted not to use it. This was after spending two days dying it. In the end the anti-pill fleece worked, and I was happy. One of the feet had to be upholstered twice. Spending two hours chipping off glue is not fun.
The inner part of the feet hoofs is an optical illusion. They're stained with an assortment of colors fading the portion between the two halves.
The hands were upholstered in a similar method as the feet. Both have rubber soling sheets on them normally used for dance shoes.
Body suit:
The little "dew hoofs" are foam half circles that I carved, then upholstered over. My friend Eric was kind enough to stand in the body suit as I tacked everything together, then stitched it down.
Addison the billy goat will be living with
tigersammy very soon. He was designed by
