You kids with your color printers and your lasers! Back in my day we printed with an ink soaked cloth ribbon and thats how we liked it!

These are supposed to look shitty! Thats what makes them awesome! Printed with a printer made in 1989 on paper that was made in 1987.

OMG printing these things is sooo loud! I used to be pissed at the 1 kid who had internet. I had buy and cut out articles from the newspaper for current events and that kid would just print it right out from the computer.

troo story:

to convince my parents to buy a color printer my 6th grade teacher and I punk'ed them by her grading my final project with an F or something, on the grounds that my dog pictures were black and white. It worked! I so didn't care that they got really mad at us.

Lol! She's lucky she wasnt my teacher... My mom was one of those crazy over-involved dont fuck with her kid types. My little brother used to refuse to do homework (literally just did not do it ever) and eventually his teacher got sick of it and failed him on a test (that he passed. Said he had to be cheating, because in her infinite wisdom one can only absorb new information through homework, so since he didnt do his he must be getting the answers from the psychic friends network or something.). My mom raised holy hell and at the end of it the TEACHER was fired and my brother's GPA was restored.. I dont think that lady can even teach puppy obedience classes now...

I did the same thing too. After computer time the whole class would print out their work and we horde the tractor holes. It was like money! We'd all try to steal it from each other.

I actually used this dot matrix for college too but were talking like 2004. My inkjet printer broke, I didn't have any money for a new printer so I went back to using the dot matrix. I never failed me. Professors got a little irked but they never said how to print it so long as it was printed.

Thanks! OMG you have no idea! Especially with images. Printing these things out was like confusing the printer. It would do a row and sit there and think for a second.

Dot matrix printers still do live on. May companies such as warehouses and shipping depots still use them because it allows the use of carbon copy papers due to the print head physically hitting the paper.

True but I truly haven't worked on them in the last 8 years. But the funny thing is that I have worked on recently the old teletypes system.(The machines used in Good Morning Vietnam to relay messages and news). ^_^

This could be done only if no one would mind a badge the size of a standard letter. I do have a daisy wheel printer in the attic and if memory serves me correct it used to print pictures using just text automatically.

Ha ha yeah I had Broderbund Print Shop for Commodore 64. It was a big deal you could make greeting cards, calenders and banners. Actually come to think of it its quite amazing how much could be done with so little back then.

I think I could make banners and stuff with mine too. It's really cute, because when I was born, my brother made me a card with the Tandy that says, "I love you my little sister!", and I still have it in my baby book... with the track holes still intact! XD

I so want one of these. They are awesome.
I remember making "books" out of the constant feed paper, and the teachers kept getting pissed that ALL of the paper disappeared each day.

I've used dot-matrix before. Well... My mum did. For faxing.

...At least I think it was dot matrix. It let you do like all the carbon-paper copying and stuff and had the trackholes, so I'm assuming it would have been dot-matrix. ^^;

I remember the dot matrix printer, I used to have one. I was a year old in 1989. The cool thing was when you were able to add color via coloered marker/pencil.

In 1989, both the dot matrix printer and INSOMNIAC GAMES's Spyro the Dragon came out. Maybe SONY's PlayStation did too?
