I don't often upload WIPs or foamwork here but I know people are interested to see that sort of thing. So here's a tiger I'm working on. The plan is to auction him as a fullsuit within the next couple of months
With that said, would people prefer plantigrade or digitigrade for an auction suit?

If people are interested I can document my next build in detail.
I have a process I use these days which starts with full size templates, followed by block cutting, attachment to the head and finally carving down that I think it fairly easy to follow and might be helpful to other makers.
As you can see most of the faultlines between foam blocks don't actually correspond to structures on the head (there's a horizontal one ABOVE the smile line, one down the centre of the nose, one going down the cheek etc), and I find this helps me maintain symmetry and keep the carving free and organic since I'm not working with imposed "borders" laid down early in the process. After that it's a matter of smooth smooth smooth with small little scissors, and keep checking that symmetry (I find a see through ruler really helps)

Whoa @__@ It looks really amazing so far... I'm awed by how smooth your foamwork is. And it looks like a tiger shape too!
I think aesthetically, digitigrade would look better, but it might turn away potential bidders if they've never used padding before -- though never having owned a fullsuit myself, I really can't say D:

Schweet. I think [this], or maybe [this], would probably make the best reference.
I'm sort of speaking on the behalf of gypsycat6669 for this. So if you get around to managing an open space or finding time to possibly quote it maybe shoot her a note?
Much thanks! ~<3

I've done a digi tiger before, nice you have the base pattern it's no harder than a planti one. My concern was digi might put OFF bidders, and/or the extra work wouldn't generate a corresponding level of extra revenue. I'll probably put up a poll once the non-body components are done anyway
Smooth foam is just a matter of patience and really small scissors.

I considered this but this particular piece is intended as an experiment. I want to see what the market says a fullsuit made to the best of my abilities is worth. A lot of people will see a partial with options to finish but not really perceive it as a fullsuit, because the full suit isn't there in front of them, tempting them with it's ready-to-wear goodness.
If it goes well I might do future auctions with a custom body option.
