This set of Havesta creatures is concepts of species that have been developed for a month if not more, currently out of concept stage and currently in critical evaluation and experimentation stage, not all creatures are going to be subjected to the same evaluation as they are not all the same style or for the same reasons. Some are for fetishes, others are for the overall look or just for storyline possibilities with the hope that others will enjoy the chance to see more of the species later on.
Currently however this stage is more of a review of what people think of the species which is why they are uploaded now and I hope that everyone will enjoy the read.
Kwels (Ka’ells)
Idea Origin: Infected Crystal
=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=Description=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=
Look 1: The creature looks like there is crystals growing on its back, along the spine and down the tail the color of the crystal depends on the element that was nearby as the creature grew of age. However these crystal creatures are only about five to ten inches tall and besides the crystals on the back of the cat like creature it seems like there is little to no fur on it except on the tail where the fur is about three inches long and fluffed up to make the tail seem thicker, however at the base of the tail the fur gets progressively smoother and shorter until it blends with the skin. The skin color is a mix of blue and green with the blue color being the main underbelly color and green being the overall color everywhere else. The skin is tone and slick rather than loose and floppy. Claws on the creature are made of a crystal and bone composite that keeps sharpening itself after each use.
=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=Mental Behavior=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=
General Personality: Laid back, and lazy would be a good way to describe most of the Kwels, but give them small creatures and they will usually play around with the creature; they often do not attack creatures until more than three of the Kwels in a group or family are hungry, then they all assist in getting meals for the ones who are hungry.
Aggressive Behavior: The crystals on the back and claws are sharp, but they are fragile to an extent, which is fully intended as they use the crystals as ways to infect hosts and as ways to combat non living creatures like machines. A machine won’t be transformed, but the growing crystals will likely stop gears and other functions that will likely make a machine unable to move.
Neutral Behavior: Kwels are laid back for the most part, except the few that are reborn Kwels who usually are reflecting on life choices, asking why they are like this now and wondering if this life is some form of punishment for wrongdoings that they had done in their previous life somehow.
Defensive Behavior: The crystals on the Kwels grow with age, the larger they are the older the Kwels are, because of this it is easier to defend itself as one hit with a crystal is usually a sured way to make attackers think twice. The size of the crystals are also what keeps it from keeping up with the younger Kwels though, but it’s a trade off as it means they are more likely to get larger creatures infected than the younger ones.
=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=General Knowledge=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=
Feeding Habits: If given the chance, groups of Kwels will attack large creatures, especially if the meal will provide for the whole group, though they are quite able to eat without group help, they won’t try to attack creatures much larger than themselves when alone.
Reproduction: The crystals on their claws, and along the spine are able to spread if they contact an open wound on a creature. Even when stepped on there is a high chance that the creature will enter the body and start to control individual sections of the body until the whole body is consumed. The creature is used as a living host as the crystals form and spread across the body and start to break off into new Kwels. Unless the creature’s soul is reformed, or passes on that creature will be reborn as a single Kwels as a return favor for allowing them to use the body for propagating.
Life Range/Maturity Ages: They live up to 80 years due to the size that they have, most are unable to dodge at sixty and living to 80 is a achievement in itself for the Kwels. Otherwise as they are younger they are quite durable, when older the crystals on them are much easier to break off the body.
Intelligence: Excluding the Kwels that are reborn creatures with their own intelligence and memories, the Kwels are just above a human’s intelligence. They are easier to distractions and noise than anything else, the only thing more than that is movement specially when its about their size.
Language/Communications:Kwels that are reborn are able to speak, and understand the language that they used to know, all of their memories are intact and often they use that knowledge to bridge as a communication gap between the Kwels who are naturally unable to speak to other species. The Kwels use gestures between each other as communication rather than communicating with voice, with voice it is usually a tone of how they are, a grunt is usually bad as is a hiss; though a more happy sound is more similar to glass vibrating because of the crystals.
Family Structure: Families are usually in small numbers, however they form into larger groups most of the time when they feel the food supply supports it. The only exception to that is the reborn Kwels who feel like they don’t belong to the species or don’t feel a desire to join with other Kwels; others are more accepting of the new life and try to work with other families as well, especially the group that had reborn them.
Group Activities: They usually do everything together, the only exception to that is when they reach ages past fifty years, they either search for mates and propagation points, or they are singled out because of the lack of agility and speed that they used to have. Some of the older Kwels go into their own groups, though that tends to be rare as often those groups are unable to work out well.
Technology Level: Undesired need for it for most of the Kwels, the ones that are reborn are interested in it, and likely are able to understand how it would work but they would not readily have it available unless the area they are in has it somehow, or the area they invaded has it somehow.
General Response to Other Species: They are feared mainly due to the ‘mutual’ benefit of being used as a food source and as a vessel for offspring of their species. Ones that are able to reform tell of the horrid things they do as they are controlled, thankful that they were not turned into one of the Kwels. Though others are not as lucky and are changed into what they feared, often resulting in crazed or suicidal Kwels. The Kwels are able to be kept as pets, but much like dangerous snakes and other species, one bit or one scratch is enough to kill.
=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=Favorites=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=
Favorite Food: Insects, though large creatures are treated as fine foods.
Favorite Place: Damp caves are largely their favorite place.
Favorite Outlook on Life: Continue the family, though the ones that have been reborn have to deal with the mind tearing decision to attack creatures they once knew, or to die painfully due to starvation.
Favorite Belief/Religion: Most of the reformed Kwels had their own religion, but the average Kwels do not have any alignment with any god or higher being. The reformed Kwels are often torn on this choice as well; should they hold up to the rules they thought best, or to forget them and join the rest of the Kwels.
Favorite Ritual or Event: Infection, where several groups go on a midnight raid of areas to infect large groups of creatures all at once, usually resulting in an entire village being consumed overnight.
=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=History=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=
Major Events: Many species that know of this creature dread its existence, because of the crystals on the body most biological means are ineffective and projectiles usually are able to deflect off of the Kwels. They were first found on small rocky planets with little atmosphere that float around larger planets like a moon. Several of those rocks however eventually found their way to other planets, and started infection across the planet, even CenturyCave has been infected with the Kwels, but Centurycave uses that to its advantages when it needs to, mostly they are dormant though inside of Centurycave. The Kwels are a ‘wipe the slate clean’ button for the cave now when all of them are released at once.
=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=Audience Information=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=~~=
Is the Species supposed to be Liked or Disliked? Disliked, due to fear of being converted and used as a means of increasing their numbers and becoming food. It is also another way to gain a second life but that is for the creatures that are more devoted to themselves than others.
What makes this Species Interesting? The crystals along and in a Kwels are strong enough to cut yet fragile enough to break off inside of a creature to start the process of infection, it is in some ways a living infection.
Why Should the Audience Care? The Kwels are feared by most of the other species, because of this the Kwels are often seen as aggressive and mindless creatures that should be killed on sight, yet they are calm enough to be handled as very dangerous pets if done right. Better yet most of the Kwels are lazy until hungry.
Is there any Deep Meaning involved with the Species? After death, when rebirth happens should a creature follow the previous life’s actions and beliefs or forget them to function correctly in a new species group? That comes into question a lot with the Kwels along with the chance to make them into pets, as long as they are either able to keep from getting scratched, or have other means of repressing the infection crystals.
Is there any Story Involved with the Species? Cures for the infection are always a chance for many creatures, the Kwels that don’t want to be Kwels and are reborn creatures would likely seek out ways to either be formed into their old bodies, or just released from the current prison they are in through some means. Others would involve overtaking villages for food and supplies as well as propagation.
