this is pretty much entirely attributed to my receiving Terada's The Monkey King in the mail yesterday (sooooooo goood).
still much work to be done. i can only make a silicone negative mold off of plasteline. it's super complicated but i'm gonna do it because then i'll be able to cast this guy in RESIN. wouldn't that be nice?

Plasticine. And silicon moulds. And resin. You can't possibly imagine how much have you made my day better :D How had I been fed up with everyone using super sculpey... ahh. Yes. Thank you. :)
What brand of silicone are you gonna use?
Know that method of saving up silicone by pouring it into pre-cast gypsum moulds? You can even make precise measurements of the amount of silicone you're gonna need...
But first... Are you gonna make it one-piece mould and cut it up with razor, or a two piece?

I like plasticine a lot. Especially because the responsivenes to tools and physical properties. Put it in a fridge and you can chisel it, warm it with a hairdryer and you can knead it into shape.
For moldmaking, I was using silicone rubbers from a local manufacturer. I don't now if they export this stuff, but there is a wide range of products with various properties like temperature tolerance (for direct lead casting), adhesion, thickness... (If I remember correctly, they even made additives that let you apply the silicone directly to the object with a brush!!! :D)

i think you nailed it dude, because even if he suddenly opened his eyes to reveal some temporary glass eyes, i would still be doublec hecking CONSTANTLY to see if he was watching me.
srsly
its fucking creepy how real that dude looks even though every chisel of it from imagination. I think thats what fucking fills the sails of the creative workshops at dreamworks, pixar and a plethera of good french animation studios.
If you make a bust that shocks someone because they thought it was a person wearing a clay skin treatment... but... their missing all their body... thats a friggin flattering reaction beyond most peoples wildest dreams.
damnit, get hired by Guillermo Del Toro or something... screw brand names, im sure his workshops have it organized by SMELL, or by artist preference. Lol you obviously know what your doing!
